RTVE and Shine Iberia renew their commitment to Spanish fashion with the premiere of the fifth season of ‘Maestros de la Costura’ next Tuesday 22 February. The talent of sewing and fashion design receives a new promotion, to which Lorenzo Caprile, Alejandro G. Palomo and María Escoté want to bring out all their talent and potential.

The fifth season was presented in Pavilion 14.1 of IFEMA, the venue for the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Madrid catwalk show. In attendance were Lorenzo Caprile, María Escoté and Alejandro Palomo, the programme’s jury; Raquel Sánchez Silva, presenter of ‘Maestros de la Costura’, together with Ana María Bordas, director of Originals at RTVE; Macarena Rey, CEO of Shine Iberia and the director of Communication and Participation at RTVE, María Eizaguirre, who presented the event.

Eizaguirre stressed that “RTVE and Shine Iberia renew their commitment to fashion with ‘Maestros de la costura’, with ten weeks of learning, work, laughter and emotions”. Bordas added that “in this new stage at RTVE we have the obligation to provide entertainment that contributes something and ‘Maestros de la Costura’ transmits learning, effort, self-improvement, healthy competition and is also a good school for the people who follow the programme”.

For her part, Macarena Rey spoke about the change in the talent show’s mechanics: “The new season is very tough: six veterans against six anonymous contestants, who are just starting out. In addition, the first test will be one of technical skill to demonstrate perfection in sewing”.
Raquel Sánchez Silva pointed out that “it is very difficult to keep a programme on prime time television for five years. The feeling we have is that ‘Maestros de la costura’ asks for more, so there will be better sewing and better tests”. Caprile has highlighted the role of the veterans, as “they have learned that you can never go overboard or take anything for granted, because we never know what is going to happen”. Along the same lines, María Escoté added that “it has been very nice to see the fusion between the veterans and their know-how, and the freshness of the newcomers. They have contributed a lot to each other”. And Alejandro Palomo pointed out that “there was a beautiful family, everyone loved each other and had an incredible time”.
