November 6, 2023 – On November 17, ten professional hairstylists from Spain will step into the salon of ‘HairStyle, The Talent Show’ with the goal of becoming the breakout star in the world of hairstyling. Master stylist Rossano Ferretti and stylist Beatriz Matallana will judge the work presented by the contestants and offer their best advice. Viewers can follow the competition of this talent show produced by Shine Iberia (A Banijay Company) on DKISS (broadcasted openly and available for all of Spain via TDT) starting on November 17th at 9:00 PM and also through the exclusive content catalog of Rakuten TV.
“We are thrilled with the result and looking forward to the premiere on DKISS and Rakuten TV because the talent genre is in Shine’s DNA, and it has been a lot of fun to record,” highlights Macarena Rey, CEO of Shine Iberia. Cristian Liarte, Head of Original Content at Rakuten TV Europe, considers ‘HairStyle’ a “pioneering and innovative” format that “combines Rakuten TV’s values with high-quality entertainment for a broad European audience.” Susana Ortega, Director of Programming at DKISS, adds: “At DKISS, we are very excited about the premiere of this format. From the moment Warner Bros. Discovery, as our main content provider, presented the program, we saw that it was a perfect fit for our channel’s identity.”
For Master Rossano Ferretti, ‘HairStyle’ is a great opportunity to bring more visibility to his profession. “I want my world to be more aspirational, and I want people to know how wonderful this profession is, as it cannot be replaced by machines; it is a manual art.” Although Beatriz Matallana is accustomed to working on sets and studios, this is the first time she has been in front of the cameras. “At times, it was challenging for me to play the role of an impartial judge while also motivating the contestants. Becoming a successful hairdresser is not an easy task. Creativity is essential to excel in this profession, and it is the most challenging characteristic to develop in the short term,” she emphasizes.
Adapting to the requests of clients, studying their physical features, and advising them on the most flattering hair colors and cuts, creating hairstyles for special occasions, and rescuing damaged hair are some of the challenges that the ‘HairStyle’ contestants will face. Additionally, they will need to demonstrate their skills with brushes, as they will have to complete the hairstyles with dreamy makeup. They will put their creativity and hairstyling vision to the test to make their name known in every household. The winner of each ‘HairStyle’ edition will receive a prize valued at 150,000 euros, allowing them to open a super exclusive salon with guidance from a team of experts led by Rossano Ferretti. They will also have the support of the program’s collaborating brands and receive an additional 10,000 euros check to invest in their salon. They will also become part of the international team of instructors at the prestigious ‘MDB Education’ hairdressing master.
A TV studio transformed into a grand salon. ‘HairStyle’ is an ambitious project for which a 1,000 m2 studio hub was built in Madrid, where recordings for a total of five editions of ‘HairStyle’ took place, featuring contestants and judges from five countries: Spain, Italy, Mexico, Brazil, and the United States. “It has been a challenge to cast in 5 countries and in 4 different languages, and to find co-presenters in each country to accompany Rossano,” highlights Macarena Rey, CEO of Shine Iberia.
The salon includes workstations with all the hairdressing tools needed to perform spectacular work, separate washbasins to provide personalized treatment to clients, and a wide shelf with the best hair care products and a variety of natural hair extensions. With all these products, the ‘HairStyle’ contestants will be able to complete all the challenges with high-quality materials provided by the program’s collaborating brands: AlfaParf Milano Professional, Rossano Ferretti Parma, Gama Professional, Maletti, and Great Lengths.
Stylish hosts in the world of hairstyling. Master stylist Rossano Ferretti is one of the most renowned hairstylists in the world. He belongs to the third generation of a family of hairdressers and has created a global empire from Campegine, a small Italian village with only 500 inhabitants. Some of these salons are located in Milan, Paris, New York, Miami, Dubai, and Madrid. Furthermore, Rossano Ferretti is internationally recognized as the creator of the revolutionary “Invisible Cut” method. For decades, Rossano Ferretti has advocated that hair should be cut in a personalized manner, considering the natural fall of the hair, its texture, and movement. It should also be cared for through a personalized hair care routine for each person. At a time when incorporating skin care ingredients into hair care was rare, Rossano Ferretti was a pioneer in researching the link between both care practices, positioning himself at the forefront of the ‘skinification’ movement. The next challenge for Rossano Ferretti is to become the host and judge of the new hairstyling talent show ‘HairStyle, The Talent Show.’
