Twelve weeks later, MasterChef Celebrity 10 has a winner. Mariló Montero took home the trophy after an intense duel with Miguel Torres, in which both opted for highly complex menus with different family stories behind them. Earlier, Juanjo and Torito sealed their third and fourth places in the final outdoor challenge, where MasterChef paid a well-deserved tribute to Martín Berasategui for his 50 years of dedication to gastronomy. The season ended with a final full of emotions and many, many tears.
The night kicked off with Juanjo, Miguel, Torito and Mariló following one of the world’s best chefs: Virgilio Martínez. His restaurant Central, in Peru, has been recognised as the best in the world according to The World’s 50 Best Restaurants list. With Tamara Falcó as a special guest, the finalists followed the rhythm, or tried to in some cases, of the Peruvian chef with the sole objective of winning the first duelist’s jacket. That privilege was reserved for Mariló who, excitedly, donned the coveted garment with her name embroidered on it.
Miguel and Torito stayed close and travelled with Juanjo to Donosti to compete for the chance to accompany Mariló in the final duel. But the final outdoor challenge was no easy feat, and from the Miramar Palace, MasterChef Celebrity 10 paid tribute to Martín Berasategui, the culinary master who is celebrating 50 years of impeccable career, becoming the Spanish chef with the most Michelin stars, 12 in 7 restaurants. There, Miguel, Torito and Juanjo worked individually to prepare different creations by Berasategui, which would be tasted by family and close friends of the great figure of Basque cuisine. While Torito had some complications with his dishes, Juanjo solved his problems with the crispy dish with a positive attitude and hard work, and Miguel Torres carefully followed each preparation. As a result, the second chef’s jacket was shared between the two of them, and ultimately went to the former footballer. The tribute ended with Martín in tears, holding his granddaughter in his arms and greeting each of the guests at his tribute one by one: ‘This is the best day of my life.’ It has been worth all the hard work. Even if I live another 3,000 years, I will have to pinch myself every day for how lucky I am to have a family like this and such great friends who are by my side so that I can enjoy life and gastronomy so much.”
