The ONCE Euskadi Social Group has recognised the documentary series ‘Generación Cannabis’ (broadcast on ETB as ‘Cannabis Belaunaldia’) in the Communication Project category at its 2026 Solidarity Awards. The accolade was collected by the documentary series’ director, Oiane Sagasti. The jury highlighted the production’s outstanding work in raising visibility around the impact of cannabis consumption among young people, tackling the issue through first-hand testimonies from those affected, their families, mental health professionals, authorities, and former addicts.

This award builds on the successful track record of this factual format, which focuses on the critical social issues facing today’s youth. Jointly developed by Shine Iberia (Banijay Group), EITB and RTVE, the format has amassed an impressive array of accolades at key audiovisual industry festivals and awards.

The project launched in 2024 with ‘Generación Porno’, a production that analysed minors’ premature access to online pornography. This first instalment achieved triple recognition, winning the FORTA Pello Sarasola Award for Best Regional Programme, the FesTVal de Vitoria-Gasteiz Award, and an accolade at the ARFF Barcelona. On the awards circuit, the production secured a strong international presence as a finalist for Best Documentary at the Venice TV Awards, Best Factual/Infotainment Programme at the Iris Awards, and Best Societal Documentary Series at the PRODU Awards, alongside Official Selections at both the Berlin TV Series Festival and the prestigious Input TV.

A year later, in 2025, the team explored the relationship between children, adolescents, screens, and social media in ‘Generación Click’. This instalment continued the format’s industry success, winning Best Non-Scripted Series at the PRODU Awards. Furthermore, the project cemented its industry prestige by picking up two major nominations: Best Informative Programme at the Iris Awards, and Best Docu-Reality or Factual at the Rose d’Or Latinos.

With this latest recognition from ONCE Euskadi for ‘Generación Cannabis’, the format consolidates its position in today’s television landscape as a benchmark for public service factual production—successfully combining social relevance with audience engagement, institutional acclaim, and unanimous critical backing.
