The world is threatened by overexploitation and the majority of the population has forgotten the proximity products that traditionally filled our markets.

Very few know what is a payoyo goat, have tasted an elephant garlic or tasted the kale, so the time has come to save from extinction the indigenous products that are in serious danger. In ‘S.O.S Alimentos, Karra al rescate’the actor Karra Elejalde will become a secret agent who will travel across the country willing to overcome a tough mission: the real rescue of food that should not disappear.

This gastronomic challenge, produced by Shine Iberia, will premiere on April 17 in La 1 de TVE. In the thirteen deliveries of ‘S.O.S. Karra will travel to Granada, Marbella, Murcia, Alicante, Valencia, Extremadura, Aranjuez, Avila, Huesca, Zaragoza, Vitoria, Donostia and Bilbao to rediscover an endangered product such as black kernels, white or Llodian hen. At each destination, the mission will begin by talking with the neighbors, producers and chefs of the region to gather all the necessary information, discovering all the secrets of these forgotten products.

In addition, it will be totally involved in its recovery and we will see Karra planting white strawberries, gathering the olive empeltre, grazing the churra tensina, milking a goat verata or feeding gray geese Extremadura. A renowned chef from the area and Karra Elejalde, as a pinche, will help to value these products and prepare two completely different dishes with the same food in danger of extinction. To complete the mission they will have to get one of these proposals incorporated in the letter of one of the best restaurants in the area to save it from extinction.

The program has the participation of great national chefs, such as María José San Román (owner of the restaurant Monastrell with a Michelin star), Ricard Camarena (a Michelin star in the restaurant that bears his name) or Diego del Río (chef de cuisine in The restaurant El Lago de Marbella with a Michelin star), among others.restaurante Sagartoki de Vitoria?
