MasterChef’, a decade of fulfilling dreams

April 7, 2022 Noticias, Uncategorized
  • The culinary talet has become one of the longest-running and most successful programmes on television.
  • Once again this year Pepe Rodríguez, Samantha Vallejo-Nágera and Jordi Cruz will put the aspirants to the test. Now is the chance for a Guipuzcoan with eight Basque surnames, a Madrid native who failed as the owner of several restaurants, a Belgian-Murcian who is a super fan of the Eurovision universe, two ex-girlfriends and an administrative assistant obsessed with the Korean community in Barcelona.
  • They will make dishes with blood and sweets with bacon, improve the worst and worst dishes of ‘MasterChef’, serve their creations to inspectors from the Repsol Guide, donate a thousand portions to Mensajeros de la Paz, work as professionals at El Celler de Can Roca, cook Eskimo food and get to know the gastronomy of the Algarve. There will also be the first reunion of the contestants from all the editions of ‘MasterChef’.

April 07, 2022.- ‘Vamos a la mesa’, ‘Con las manos en la masa’ and ‘El menú de cada día’ introduced and consolidated cooking on television. But everything changed with the arrival of ‘MasterChef’. The culinary talent, produced by RTVE in collaboration with Shine Iberia, brought a new point of view to the dissemination of our gastronomic riches and revolutionised the television panorama of the moment. This year, ‘MasterChef’ reaches its tenth edition and has become one of the longest-running and most successful formats on television, with the different versions of ‘MasterChef’ having been on air for 32 weeks.
MasterChef’ has the gift of making dreams come true. Juanma, Vicky, Carlos, Virginia, Jorge, Marta, Aleix, Ana, Arnau and the more than 130 aspirants who have stepped into these kitchens have had the opportunity to turn their passion into a profession. Now a man from Guipuzcoa with eight Basque surnames, a man from Madrid who opened several restaurants but none of them came to fruition, a Belgian-Murcian who is a huge fan of the Eurovision and Harry Potter universe, and an administrative woman who is passionate about Korean culture, who claims to know all the Koreans in Barcelona, will try their luck. In addition, the jury will witness the reunion of two ex-girlfriends who share the desire to become chefs and have not seen each other since they left each other three years ago.
Pepe Rodríguez, Samantha Vallejo-Nágera and Jordi Cruz expect a lot from them. Conquering their palate is more complicated every year, and this year the bar is sky-high. Throughout this decade, they have tasted emblematic dishes from the history of ‘MasterChef’, such as the Lion eats prawn, Clara P. Villalón’s inverted ravioli, Juana’s quesadillas, Arnau París’ coca de recapte, Edurne’s chickpea stew or Marta Verona’s raspberry macarons, in the more than 350 challenges carried out. The ‘cum laude’ candidate will win the prize of 100,000 euros, the ‘MasterChef España’ trophy and the chance to publish their own recipe book. In addition, the Basque Culinary Center Faculty of Gastronomic Sciences, in San Sebastian, maintains its commitment to train the first three winners. The winner will win a Master’s Degree in Cuisine, Technique and Product; the runner-up, a Master’s Degree in Patisserie; and the third, an eight-week Specialisation Course.
They will have the support of all the aspirants and the most renowned chefs.
Sanlúcar de Barrameda (Cádiz), Spanish Capital of Gastronomy 2022, will witness a unique moment: the first reunion of the contestants from all the editions of ‘MasterChef’. In addition, the contestants will be visited by Almudena Gandarias (winner of ‘MasterChef Grandparents 2’), Aurora (winner of ‘MasterChef Junior 8’), Lu (winner of ‘MasterChef Junior 7’), Albert (contestant of ‘MasterChef Junior 7’), Guillem (winner of ‘MasterChef Junior 9’) and their companions Carla, Olivia and Alexia. The most beloved participants of ‘MasterChef Celebrity’ will also be present: Juanma Castaño, Miki Nadal, Belén López, Carmina Barrios, Boris Izaguirre, Silvia Abril, Raquel Meroño, Florentino Fernández, Bibiana Fernández, Anabel Alonso and Josie, among others.
This year the great Ferrán Adriá, Martín Berasategui, Dabiz Muñoz, Oriol Castro, Mateu Casañas, Dani García, Paco Roncero, Mario Sandoval, Francis Paniego, Iván Cerdeño, Rafa Zafra, Andrea Tumbarello, Vicente Patiño, Hideki, Rodrigo de la Calle, Óscar Hernando, Fernando and César Hermoso, Albert Boronat, Henrique Sá Pessoa and master chocolatier David Pallás will join the long list of renowned professionals who will support this season. The jury will also include guests of the stature of singer-songwriter Joan Manuel Serrat, Father Ángel, María Ritter, director of the Repsol Guide, and Chanel, Spain’s representative at the Eurovision Song Contest 2022.

MasterChef’ sneaks into El Celler de Can Roca
In ‘MasterChef 10’ Pepe Rodríguez, Samantha Vallejo-Nágera and Jordi Cruz will pay tribute to the programme’s trajectory. However, the contestants should not be overconfident, because the jury will always find a product, a dish or a challenge with which to surprise them: will they be able to make a dish with blood or a sweet dish with bacon, will they be able to improve on the worst dishes in the history of ‘MasterChef’, and will they be able to beat the best? In addition to these challenges, the jury will ask them to use stinky, future or endangered foods, serve their creations to inspectors from the Repsol Guide, make impossible desserts, prepare the traditional British Yorkshire pudding and reproduce the famous dish poulet de bresse en vessie by chef Paul Bocuse, the driving force behind nouvelle cuisine.
In the outdoor tests, the ‘MasterChef’ kitchens will be moved to the most spectacular locations. There, the contestants will find the most extraordinary raw materials. They will prepare almost a thousand portions to donate to Mensajeros de la Paz, fight climate change with an Eskimo cooking, celebrate the 50th anniversary of Médicos Sin Fronteras, work like real professionals at Celler de Can Roca, discover the gastronomy of the Portuguese Algarve and follow the orders of chefs Basem Alawartan and Jan Hendrik van der Westhuizen, who will communicate with the contestants in their mother tongues, Arabic and Afrikaans, respectively.

MasterChef’ on the networks
The growth of the ‘MasterChef’ brand on social media is unstoppable. Between all its accounts, it has accumulated an incredible 5 million followers. Per season, the talent reaches 55 million impressions on Twitter, an average of 1.2 million reproductions for each video published on Facebook or more than 500K accounts reached per publication on Instagram. This year’s big bet is the talent’s arrival on Pinterest to promote its gastro side, with a series of tips and recipes led by the most loved faces of the programme. Its first publications shared on this social network have been a complete success, with more than 3 million views. But that’s not all, in this new instalment we will be able to see Ana Iglesias, María Morales, Amelicious and, of course, the judges surprising us with simple, delicious proposals with the magic touch of ‘MasterChef’. Finally, it is worth highlighting the importance of the presence of ‘MasterChef’ on YouTube through its official channel, where it already has more than 755 million views, with figures that reach 21 million views per month.

The programme can also be enjoyed at home
The publishing house Espasa is selling ’10 años de MasterChef. Recetas de los grandes chefs para cocinar en casa’ (10 years of MasterChef. Recipes from the great chefs for cooking at home), a book for triumphing with the dishes of the best chefs in our country who have taken part in the programme. Together with the jury, Carlos Maldonado, Ferran Adrià, Juan Mari Arzak, Martín Berasategui, Oriol Castro, Joan and Jordi Roca, Ángel León and José Andrés, among other friends, propose their star dishes.
MasterChef’ fans will be able to enjoy the best dishes from the programme at the MasterChef Restaurant (C/ Velázquez 150, Madrid) and thanks to MasterChef Family delivery they will have the opportunity to taste one of the best dishes from each programme, without having to leave home. They will also be able to pair their dishes with MasterChef wines. On the other hand, for those who want to improve their culinary skills and techniques, the MasterChef School has more than 400 online classes and is expanding its content every month.
