Although Madrid Fashion Week has just closed its latest edition, lovers of Spanish fashion are in luck. No longer will they have to return to watch the parades of renowned Spanish designers on television. Now you can design for one of the leading firms in the industry and learn from them. RTVE and Shine Iberia open the casting of the talent show of sewing, fashion and design ‘Cosido a Mano’, a program that offers amateur dressmakers the opportunity to make the leap to the most powerful industry in our country: textiles.
In ‘Cosido a Mano’ a group of passionate seamstresses and fashion will face different tests in which they must demonstrate their creativity and talent transforming garments, making patterns, and even designing and sewing their own creations of haute couture and prêt- to-porter. They should defend themselves using all kinds of fabrics, sewing by hand and by machine, following patterns and creating new clothes while under the supervision and valuation of a professional jury. Amateurs who have a true passion for fashion and design can already join the casting at RTVE.es/cosidoamano.
Spanish fashion is synonymous with style, design and power. The most important national firms have great prestige and international recognition, some even leading the global rankings. All this thanks to the work done by the nearly 200,000 people employed in this sector, which last year invoiced almost 20,000 million euros. The talent ‘Cosido a mano’ will immerse the spectator in the spectacular world of fashion and will show the whole process of creating a garment, from the birth of the idea to the end of its production.
‘Cosido a Mano’ is an international success in the United Kingdom, where they have made 4 seasons and traveled to France, Germany, Norway, Denmark and Sweden, being renewed for a second season in all cases.
